The Darkest Corners~ Reviewed by Hailey Hinrichs

It’s been 10 years since Tessa has been back to where she grew up in Fayette. Since her move to Florida, she has lost touch with everyone she was once close to including her best friend Cassie.
But nothing was ever the same after that night at the trail. Since she moved to Florida, all of Callie’s energy has gone to starting over and forgetting what happened the summer before she moved. Callie tries to forget by endless partying.
The last time Tessa talked to Cassie was back during the trial of Wyatt Stokes where they both testified and the man was put on death row. Now Tessa is back and is looking for answers after another girl turns up dead.
Could she have convicted an innocent man? More importantly, can she handle coming in contact with another killer?
I really enjoyed this book so I gave it 4 out of 5 stars.  I really liked that Kara Thomas literally kept so many things secret all until the ending and it was just mind blowing when everything was revealed. I loved how easily I could connect with Tessa. She was pretty much left alone after the incident and started keeping people at a distance before letting them get close to her and I can really relate with her on that. Although it may seem easier just keeping people at a distance, I really envy people who can just trust and love unconditionally. What I liked most about the book was that the author showed how the girls handled things differently and that how they handled it was realistic. Many people have turned to alcohol and drugs after a traumatic event. People have even secluded themselves too after a bad situation as well so I like that both ways the girls handled it was realistic. I liked this book a lot and would recommend it to any of my friends or family.

Lady Midnight Movie Trailer by Hailey Hinrichs

This video cannot be viewed from an iPad, but can be viewed on a computer.

"But our love was stronger by far than the love, Of those who were older than we- Of many far wiser than we- And neither the Angels in the Heavens above Nor the demons down under the sea Can ever dissever my soul from the soul Of the beautiful Annabel Lee.."

It's been five years ears since the Dark War that took the lives of thousands of Shadowhunters. Order has been restored and Shadowhunters are forbidden from helping any of the Fair Folk. After Mark was taken by the Fair Folk and his parents were killed, he was left to watch over his brothers and sister and the weight of the whole New York Institute was left on his shoulders. Emma was left trying to find out who killed her parents because she refuses to believe that it was Sebastian due to the markings on their bodies. She begins to give up hope. At least until Mark appear at their door with other Fair Folk.
The Fae believe they can help track who killed Emma's parents since they have found even more bodies with the strange markings. If Emma and Julian help them, they have a chance to have Mark back and find the people who killed Emma's parents.
As Emma searches for her parent's killer, she's left wondering what Julian has been keeping from her. As her parabatai, they have a special bond. A parabatai is your best friend and your partner in battle, but they can never fall in love. But why not? Can she stand to know the truth? Even more importantly, can she stand to actually find the person who killed her parents?
I fell in love with this book so I gave it 5 stars! I LOVE Cassandra Clare's writing more than anything and I think this new trilogy is going to be amazing, just like the Infernal Devices and Mortal Instruments series that she also wrote. I loved the characters, like I usually do. Each character is unique. My favorite part of these series is Clare has made each family different. For example, my favorite characters throughout each series are any of the Herondales. They're brave and sarcastic and hilarious. Each character has their own personality that you really will not forget. I'm someone who likes romance but to a certain extent. I hate when that's ALL the book is about when it's really supposed to be about something bigger than that. A BIG thing I love about these characters is that their independent and they're mature which is the type of characters you really need in a book like this. Also, the plot to this book is phenomenal. I don't know how Cassandra Clare can keep making more and more series off these characters, but she does an amazing job at it.
I would highly recommend reading The Mortal Instruments series before this book because you learn about every character in this book in the 6th book of the series. A lot of reading... But I promise Cassandra Clare's writing won't let you down. Also, there is prequel series called the Infernal Devices series that is about these characters ancestors. Not necessary to have to read before this book, but it gives you background information to better understand two characters Jem and Tessa that show up in this book.
I would HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone who loves fantasy and adventure! This is an amazing start to what will be an undoubtedly amazing trilogy!
Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare (#1 in the Dark Artifices) 5 stars

Ink and Bone~ Reviewed by Hailey Hinrichs

"There is no place in the world for librarians who lack the will to defend books against wars, rebels, and Burners. Books cannot fight for themselves."

In a world where personal ownership of books is forbidden, Jess Brightwell and his family are involved in a thriving black market where illegal books are sold. The Great Library is the main source of knowledge in every major city and it is where any literature in all of history can be obtained instantly on a blank, which is like a tablet where any book can be sent for you to read.

Jess has been used as a delivery boy for his father for years to deliver illegal books to his customers. But when Jess begins to decide against taking over his father’s business, he is sent by his family to be a spy in the Library's service. When he meets new friends and begins to understand the worth of the library more, his loyalties are put to the test. Especially his loyalties to the people who control the Great Library. When a member of his training group creates a new device that could destroy the foundation of the Library, Jess realizes that the leaders of the Library will do anything to preserve the knowledge of the Library, even if that means sacrificing human lives.

This book was very interesting so I gave it 4 out of 5 stars. I loved that the topic of this book was about all books being virtual because I feel like it is something that may very well happen. Technology is advancing and SO MANY things are on a computer that most people don't even think to pick up a book anymore. I liked this new world Rachel Caine created and I definitely think that the whole process of the Library was very well developed. There were a few twists in the book that I didn't expect but I really did like and it definitely got me to keep wanting to read more to find out what would happen next. I would recommend this book to any of my friends and I would definitely recommend this book be bought for our library. I'm looking forward to reading the next book in this series Paper and Fire!

The Book of Ivy~ Reviewed by Hailey Hinrichs

\

What would you kill for?
After a war that destroyed most of the United States, Ivy Westfall’s family came to power and founded the country Westfall. But when the Westfalls lost in a conflict with the Lattimers, they lost their power and the Lattimers began to govern Westfall as a dictatorship. Ivy grew up hating the Lattimers and the new laws they created, especially arranged marriages. Every year the daughters from the Westfalls marry the sons of the Lattimers.
This year it is Ivy’s turn.
To the Lattimers, it’s just another marriage.
To the Westfalls, it’s their chance to regain power.
Ivy’s father and sister have given her the task to kill her new husband, Bishop, in order for their family to return to power. But as Ivy begins to understand more about Bishop and his family, can she find the will to do it? What if everything she once knew actually wasn’t true? What if Bishop really isn’t as brutal and awful as her family told her? Will she be able to kill the only person who seems to actually understand her? As her love for Bishop grows and she finds out the truth about her mother’s death, Ivy realizes that things definitely are not what she grew up believing.
I really enjoyed this book so I gave it 4 out of 5 stars. I loved the characters, especially Ivy’s character. I really liked that the author made the arranged marriages seem realistic and that not every marriage worked out because in all honestly, that’s how it works sometimes. In arranged marriages, I would expect things to not always work out or for there to be some complications, especially for the kids who are only 16. Also, at the beginning of the book I was worried that I could already tell how the book was going to end. I was wrong. There were some really good plot twists in the book and they completely caught me off guard. I really enjoyed this book and would recommend it to any of my friends

Me Before You-- Reviewed by Sarah Roberts

“I will never, ever regret the things I've done. Because most days, all you have are places in your memory that you can go to.”

Do you believe in fate? That in one moment everything changes, and that the change is where you were meant to be all along? Well in the case of Lou Clark and Will Traynor, fate definitely plays its part.

Lou knows a lot of things in her life. She knows the amount of steps it takes to get from her home to the bus stop, and she knows that she loves her job at The Butter Bun tea store. Lou also knows that there is a possibility that she may not be in love with her boyfriend Patrick.

What Lou doesn't know is that she is going to lose her beloved job, or that what is in store for her is going to be her saving grace.

Will Traynor knows that he has no real desire to live after a motorcycle accident took away the ability to use his legs. He knows that life has become rather dull and joyless, and he knows how he is going to put a stop to it.

What Will does not know, is that Lou is about to enter his dull world and give it a little color. And neither of them know that these changes are going to alter their lives for all time.

I adored this book!! I loved everything about this story. I enjoyed how Lou was not a perfect woman, but rather an out of control and not overly beautiful one. She wasn't perfect and that is what I found so enjoyable. I also loved the comedic moments through out the book, they made me fall in love with this story over and over again. I also enjoyed the romance of this story, it wasn't perfect and it didn't happen immediately. This was a rather beautiful book. I would recommend this book to anyone.

This Is Where the World Ends-- Reviewed by Sarah Roberts

“We knew each other to our fingertips. No, that's not right. We only knew each other in our fingertips, and that was nothing at all, and for a while that was okay. We could have been a love story, a fairy tale, an indie film about high school and selective insanity featuring a boy of angel parts and a girl made of dreaming. We could have been all the best things: bracelets sliding down arms while shots slid down throats, laughter and crashing music in dark and flashing rooms, kisses that started hesitant but didn't stay that way.”

Do you have a person in your life that you could never separated from? If they disappeared you would go completely insane? That's Janie and Micah.

Janie and Micah are always together. That's the way it's always been since elementary school, when Janie moved next door.  Janie and Micah are total opposites. Where Janie is outgoing, Micah is shy. Micah loves music, and Janie is more into art.

It's a perfect friendship- as long as it's kept a secret.

Everything is perfect. That is until Janie goes missing. Now, as Micah looks for his beloved best friend, things begin to get colored with doubt.

What was once so clear to Micah, now becomes a little blurry. The friendship that was once the realest thing in his life, becomes something to doubt.

I thought this book was wonderful! The characters were amazing. I enjoyed the mystery this book had to offer, and had my attention grabbed in many scenes throughout this book. Although, a little slow in points during the story, I still thought it was a great read. The mystery behind Jill's disappearance I found quite interesting. All in all this was a great book that I would recommend to my friends and family.

With Malice--Reviewed by Sarah Roberts

"Simone was dead, and I had no idea how it had happened."

Have you ever woken up and not remembered what you did the day before? It's slightly scary, but once you see an image you immediately remember. Well, that is not the case for Jill Charron.

Eighteen year old Jill Charron, wakes up only to find herself in a hospital bed. The worst part is, she can't remember how she got there. Jill can't even remember the past 6 weeks of her life.

Jill later discoveries that she was involved in a fatal car accident, which explains the cast on her leg and the stitches. The car accident occurred during the school trip to Italy. Jill was jetted home by her rich father, so that she could receive the proper care. Only problem this care involved a lawyer...and a press team?

Maybe this accident...wasn't an accident.

Jill tries to figure out not only what happened, but what she did. She works to figure out what happened in the six weeks that she can't seem to remember, before she loses what's left of her perfect life.

I thought this book was amazing! I adored the storyline. This was YA, but at the same point seemed to have adult aspects to it. I loved how we saw Jill struggle to recover her memory, and that it seemed real and not fictional. I also enjoyed how there were interruptions in chapters that showed us police reports and interviews with people. This book had a kind of detective feel to it that just made this book so much fun to read. It felt like I was interacting with the characters myself, and I enjoyed that a lot. I would recommend this book to all my friends and family.

I would like to thank NetGalley for allowing me to review this book as well as a the publisher Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Children's Book Group for allowing me to read and review this book as well.

In Real Life-- Reviewed By Sarah Roberts

“We were ghosts. Ghosts didn't exist in real life. You couldn't touch a ghost.”

Best Friends are always seen as something unreplaceable. They are always there for you when you need to laugh, or just someone to talk nonsense with. That is case for Hannah Cho and Nick Cooper. They have been best friends since 8th grade. The only problem is...they haven't actually met before.

Hannah Cho and Nick Cooper have been best friends since 8th grade. They talk on the phone for long periods of time, send each other presents, and know every little detail about each other.

Only issues is...they have never met in person before.

Hannah has always done what she is asked to do for her entire life, but when her spring break plans are ruined, she decides it's time to break a few rules. Hannah decides to take a trip to Las Vegas to surprise Nick and confess her more-than just friend feelings. Who better to tag along with Hannah than her older sister and best friend.

Hannah's romantic gesture fails however, when she finds out that Nick has been keeping some pretty big secrets. She knows that the real Nick can't be all that different from the Nick she knows and loves online. With only one night in Las Vegas to figure out how she really feels, Hannah's about to figure out how breaking the rules can alter life.

I loved this book! I thought the storyline was really well written. The story at first seemed like it was going to be insanely cliché, but once I got into it I couldn't put it down. This book had romantic aspects, comedic scenes, and a wonderful adventure. I would definitely reread this book. The romance aspect was cute, and I loved how each of the characters interacted with each other. I would definitely recommend this book to my friends and family because not only did it touch on teen romance but it also touched on family relationships as well.

Have you ever had something happened to you, where you just want to change your name and switch cities or even planets? Well that's exactly what happens to Julia Vann.

Now living as Lucy Black, Julia has a chance at having a normal high school year. That is until, Dr. Spence, Julia's brother's therapist, comes to town with a plan to find Julia. When a sequence of events makes it hard to hide the truth about her past Julia is forced to confide in her best friend Alane and her high school crush, Michael. Julia tells them everything about her past life...or so they think. What Julia holds inside could be the key to unlocking what really happened that fateful day, which changed her life forever. One thing is clear the damage done can never be erased. It's only just the beginning.

I thought this book was absolutely amazing. I gave it a five-star rating because i could not put it down for even a second. This book is twisted and touches on subjects that others are afraid to even hint at. It creates a feeling of numbness at the end, because you just can't process it at first. It makes you think about how the mind works and what really makes people the way they are. I would highly recommend this book to anyone and everyone because it is a story worth experiencing.
