Fairy Tale -- a review by Nallely Saavedra

Fairy Tale by Cyn Balog
*** Stars

All Morgan Sparks wants is to keep Cam by her side forever.

All her life, Morgan has been different from the rest. Most of her childhood she spent with Cam Browne, and she couldn't be any happier. But after she witnesses her boyfriend, Cam, fly on the football field, he starts to act different. Morgan can't help but feel insecure. Morgan knows Cam is hiding something, and if he won't tell her, she'll do anything to find out why. For the sake of their future she'll do anything to keep him by her side. This is a tale of two best-friends who struggle in saving their destined love.

I rate this book a 3 out of 5 stars because too many things were happening at once, so much so that it got confusing halfway through. Though, I liked Morgan because she was a straight-forward person. ^^ The ending made me really upset and mad, but if a sequel were released I'd want to read it ^^! I didn't like it that much because it didn't really explain what Morgan was emotionally feeling..it just had a short description of her emotions. I felt like Balog needed to express Morgan's pain a little more. I kind of wish Balog would've added Cam's point-of-view. I feel like that would've made it better.

Enjoy,
Nallely S. ^^

Candor -- a review by Molly Varney

Candor by Pam Bachorez

"In this town, you are what you hear." In Candor Florida, everything is perfect. The Children have perfect grades, the families are happy, and nothing ever goes wrong. However, in a town that's supposedly perfect there is one small problem; Oscar Banks. Oscar is the son of the town's founder. He's the perfect Candor child: perfect grades, class president, and a shining example for the other kids. But for him it's all and act. He pretends to be perfect and even has a girlfiend, Mandi. But he knows about the messeges. He fights them with his own messeges and he runs his own business getting kids out before they are brainwashed. And because he's the perfect child, no one suspects him.

For Oscar, everything is runnung perfectly. His disguise is perfect and his new client, Sherman, is almost ready to leave. He had no worries until a new family moved in. Their daughter, Nia, is able to see right through his act. Oscar is immediantly interested in her resistance to the messeges. Now he must either save her from the messeges by sending her away, or help her learn to resist the messeges completely. Will he risk a trip to the listening room where even the most resistant minds are wiped clean? In the end will he choose to trust the wrong people?

I gave this book a 4 out of 5 stars because at the end it lets you to decide what happens to the characters. I'm not a big fan of those endings but I thought this book was really good. It was interesting and it kept me interested.

A movie based on this series!

Two black and white graphic novel volumes have been announced. Shay’s Story, in May 2012, will take the point of view of the “best frenemy” of the series heroine; and the sequel, in 2013, will follow up.
Series author Scott Westerfeld and comics veteran Devin Grayson will cowrite. Art is by Steven Cummings (Marvel, DC, Tokyopop).
A live action movie based on the novel series is in development by producer John Davis and the founders of Lola Visual Effects.
