October Book Club

We will meet during Teen Read Week on Tuesday, October 18 during Advisory SSR to discuss the book, The Adoration of Jenna Fox. The discussion leader will be Nallely Saavedra.

Feel free to bring a drink or snack to the library with you during the meeting and you are welcome to stay on if you have first lunch for further discussion.

Here is a link to a great book trailer and examination of the book.

3.0 out of 5 stars - "How far would you go to save someone you love?"

This was OK YA fiction. Futuristic, scientific, cutting edge technology helps make a "new" Jenna. Is surviving, but being only 10% of your former self, enough to build a real life on?

Other than Jenna being somewhat annoying and behaving like a spoiled brat most of the time, the science part was quite interesting. I really didn't like the way in which any of the characters in the story were portrayed. The book attempts to identify some moral and ethical dilemmas that might be faced in the future but the solutions offered were ambiguous.

There is a sequel which I may or may not read. The Fox Inheritance.
