Filled with a plague that has killed off half the worlds population, Cinder experiences the horror of seeing what the plague does to people. Cinder gets caught up in two worlds. The world of a cyborg and the world she always dreamed of living in...a girls dream. Meeting Prince Kai only makes matters worse. If only those were her only worries....a terrible secret is discovered....and it seems that Cinder is at the center of everything.......in this new series, Lunar Chronicles, we will see the life of a girl and a cyborg. A life where a girl only struggles to be accepted and to find love, and answers. Cinder let's us see the horror that human society has come to. Set in a futuristic world, we follow the story of a teenage girl and her struggles.

I rated Cinder * * * * stars because although I like Meyer, I felt that in this story she tried to delay a lot of things. I enjoyed reading it and I like Cinder. She's brave and doesn't let anything stop her. She has big dreams and she'll try to get there. This book caught my attention because it's set in Beijing, China, which you don't usually see. I thought that was interesting and the tale of Cinderella turned into Cyborg Cinderella was a interesting idea ^ ^. Hopefully the next installment is a little better and moves a little faster. ^ ^ I didn't like the ending~!! X< Cliff hangers are the worst!! X<

The Running Dream

Wendelin Van Draanen

****stars

In the book, The Running Dream, Jessica is a 16 year old girl who is a star at track, and was hoping to get a scholarship to college along with her friend Fiona. However, all that changes when they were coming from a successful track meet and a drunk driver rams into their bus killing one girl and crushing Jessica's leg so bad that she had to get it amputated. After a couple of days in the hospital she is finally released when doctors are convinced she can take care of her leg properly. When she finally get home she begins to shut everyone out until she realizes that she is not the only one suffering, and decides to move on with her life yet scared at the same time. When Jessica comes back to school she is completely overwhelmed with homework and almost doesn't pass math until she meets Rosa who not only helps her understand math, but helps Jessica realize that her life is not over. With this new realization, Jessica must rethink what she wants to do with her life since she can't run anymore. Or can she? Read this gripping story and find out not only what happens to Jessica, but what she does for Rosa as a thank you for everything.

I thought this book was going to be quite predictable, but my was I wrong. It took a completely different turn and I loved every second of it and because of that I gave this book four stars. Wedelin Van Draaen keeps the readers attention in this story and makes you not want to put the book down for any reason at all. So if you like reading books about tragedy and overcoming it, then The Running Dream is definitely for you.

Going Bovine- Review written by Aspen Gates

Going Bovine

By Libba Bray

***** stars

Going Bovine is about a 16 year old boy named Cameron whose life pretty much can't get any worse. He's got bad grades, he's lazy, smokes weed, and to top it all off his twin sister is dating the most popular guy in school. Remember how I said Cameron's life couldn't get much worse? Well it does. After having a complete freak out over the toaster catching on fire, Cameron is sent to the doctor for tests and learns that he has Creutzfeldt-Jacob disease better known as mad cow disease, and to top it all off there is no cure. So while the disease is slowly taking over Cameron's body, destroying his lungs, and feeling pain all over, he meets Darcie. A beautiful angel who tells him that if he finds Dr. X he can be cured, but he only has a certain amount of time before he succumbs to the disease. So without delay Cameron sets off to find Dr. X, but also with the help of Gonzo, a roommate of his in the hospital, and Baldor a talking yard gnome. So, will Cameron succeed in his quest to find Dr. X and if he does will it be what he really expects it to be? Guess you will just have to read this gripping story to find out.

Going Bovine was without a doubt the most hilarious and extraordinary book I have ever read. Don't get me wrong there were some sad times in the book, but a majority of the book was just a big laugh. I gave this book five stars because it was different and it kept my attention the whole entire time Iwas reading it. Libba Bray has really outdone herself on this amazing story, and I advise you all to check it out in the O'Hara Library pronto.
