The Brave is a sports adventure book about a 17 year old Native American boy named Sonny Bear. Sonny is a semi-professional boxer that ran away from his home on the indian reservation because he felt like he was being discriminated against because he was half white. Sonny decides to go to New York City becausethat was the last place he knew that his mom lived. Apon arrivng in New York Sonny met two people, Doll and Stick and little did he know that they would land him in the middle of a major drug war of New York. After a few run ins with the law Sonny met a man named Alfred Brooks, an ex-boxer turned cop from harlem. Brooks want to train Sonny to be a Professional boxer; does Sonny have what is takes to make it, he must control, what he calls, the monster which is his inner anger. Sonny is faced witha ton of choices like to desert his new friends and the girl he is slowly falling in love with and chase his real dream of being a boxer with Doll and Stick's enemy, the law.The book shows Brooks real motive is to helping Sonny is to catch Stick; slowly his atittude changes and Sonny really starts to grow on him. Will Brooks teach Sonnyto be a prize fighting boxer? Will Sonny find a happy medium between his two loves, boxing and doll? find out by reading The Brave.

I would recomend this book to only a couple of my friends because Robert Lypstye is an authour that knows what he is talking about when it comes to sports and you would have to know about sports to completly understand what he is saying. The plot of the book is outstanding it is a wonderful story that keeps you guessing after every page you turn. Overall The Brave is a great book!
